27 | The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,F ebruary 7,2019 theifp.ca When walking into the rustic- style Appalachian Public Drink House in Georgetown, owners Emanuele and Melanie Nalli want visitors to feel at home. The family-run eatery and bar offers a gastropub experience of not-so-typical pub fare - as well as a signature bar of 12 varieties of lo- cally-made moonshine, sourced from Murphy's Law Distillery in Elmira, Ont. "Our food is a little more ele- vated from your typical pub food and it's fresh, of course, and in- house made," Emanuele said, adding that Appalachian is in the process of changing up its menu. The new offerings will include a Creole stir fry, mushroom alfre- do linguine, bacon-wrapped meat loaf and a 10-ounce striploin steak dinner. The menu also has a number of gluten free options. As for the moonshine, visitors can choose from their favourite flavours of shooters (White Light- nin', Pepper Shine, Apple Pie, Root Beer, Sweet Tea, Caramel, Blue Raspberry, Peach Pie, Maple Cream, Key Lime, Cherry Bomb and Lady Maple), or opt for a handcrafted moonshine cocktail. Melanie says that aside from the offerings, building relation- ships with her customers is her fa- vourite part of the job. "We always want to provide good service and make them want to come back to, and have good food and a nice environment too," she added. Appalachian provides a host of weekly events for visitors, includ- ing Wing Night on Mondays, free pool on Tuesdays, karaoke on Wednesdays and live entertain- ment on Fridays and Saturdays (with a three-piece band and dancing on Saturdays); on Sun- day afternoons, Appalachian holds a live trivia event, and in the evening, Emanuele hosts an open mic night for local and GTA mu- sicians. "We want people to feel wel- come. We treat it like our house," Emanuele said.
