For the first time in decades, the municipality had to enlist a company that specializes in ex- plosives to blast the ice jam that's resulted in significantly higher water levels in Glen Williams. Along Confederation Street, backyards and driveways were flooded by water from the nearby river, with some vehicles frozen to the ground by the flow. "The river was running through my backyard. If it wasn't for my two pumps running, my basement would be soaked," said Colin McQuattie, whose yard backs onto the river and was cov- ered in frozen water.
