It's part of the 32nd season of the National Theatre School Drama Festival. Graham Paine/Metroland From small town kid to big city entertainer, George Ryan is reaching new plateaus in Canadian music and beyond. Before accumulating over 30,000 plays on Sound- cloud, the 32-year old Ryan released his debut album, Hall of Mirrors, in October 2018 as a free download. The album features the singles Constellations, Lifestyle and Pigs in a Blanket. The album was mixed by Phil Hotz of Revolution Studios in Toronto, who has worked with names like French Montana, YG, Charlie Puth and Jazz Car- tier. George began releasing the singles after returning from a month-long tour in Atlanta, Ga. where he per- formed at many iconic clubs such as Magic City and Apache Café. He also had the chance to record at Patchwerk Studios - home to many major label artists - where Kenny Mixx mas- tered the album. Raised by a single moth- er, Ryan started writing rap lyrics in Grade 9 after falling in love with the genre at an early age. His first ever recording ses- sion was in Georgetown at Hannakin Studios on Ja- son Crescent. George grew up on Con- federation Street in Glen Williams and attended Georgetown District High School before bouncing back and forth from Georgetown and London, where he enrolled at Fan- shawe College. "I think the rags to rich- es story is the most appeal- ing part of my journey and the fact that I'm a small town kid challenging some of the biggest names in the game," Ryan said. Ryan plans on moving to Los Angeles this sum- mer to make the necessary connections he needs and to record his followup pro- ject that will be mixed by Kanye West's engineer Ken Lewis. The new album can be downloaded for free or purchased on iTunes and Spotify. WHAT'S ON GLEN WILLIAMS NATIVE RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM, 'HALL OF MIRRORS' SIGN UP FOR OUR WEEKLY NEWSLETTER AT THEIFP.CA
