This spring, the Town of Halton Hills is introducing Ward Meetings in an effort to provide residents the opportunity to hear about local and municipal issues. The Georgetown Lions Club is at it again. The local group conduct- ed its latest random act of kindness on March 30, this time surprising diners enjoy- ing breakfast at Ares Restau- rant with $10 vouchers to as- sist in paying for their meals. The Lions handed out 52 coupons in total, with the club covering $500 of the tab and the balance coming from Ares. "We know a lot of people head to Ares on the weekend for breakfast. It was a good way for our club to reach out to the community to demon- strate our ongoing commit- ment to Georgetown resi- dents," said Lion Louie Violo. "It may motivate those peo- ple to think about joining our club or paying it forward." The vouchers were the fourth act of kindness in the club's six-month campaign to spread joy in the commu- nity. During the Christmas season, the Lions provided gift cards to Links2Care to help families in need. In Jan- uary, members handed out Happy Meal coupons to fami- lies dining out on a Saturday at McDonald's in George- town. In February, the club was at the Georgetown Hos- pital paying for patients' parking. To date, the Georgetown Lions Club has dished out $2,000 to support its random acts of kindness.
