Southpaw Coffee Bar and Café's Michael Murphy will soon dye his hair either pink, blue or green - which- ever colour receives the most votes via donation for Cancer Assistance Servic- es of Halton Hills (CAShh). Inspired by the 'colour for the cure' concept, Mur- phy thought that a Colour Mike for CAShh campaign would be a unique way to raise funds for a local ser- vice he supports. "You need that support network helping with qual- ity of life (when you're fighting cancer), and that's what CAShh does so well," he said. "I wanted to do my little bit in the café to help." On a personal level, Murphy said that his life has been touched by the disease, having lost several members of his mother's family to various forms of cancer. The response from Southpaw patrons has been good so far, he noted - with some people making a donation for all three col- ours in the hopes that he will end up with rainbow hair. "People are having fun with it," he said. Once the final tally is done just before Mother's Day, Murphy will then be turning to Fringe Hair Sa- lon's Josef Jones, who has offered to donate his col- ouring services for the cause. Funds raised from votes for all three colours will be donated to CAShh, a com- munity-based organization of volunteers that supports cancer patients with every- thing from transportation to and from treatment cen- tres to necessary equip- ment and supplies.
