Councillors earned a base salary of $31,867.96 each, with Mayor Rick Bonnette earning a base salary of $77,806.56. Councillors had a dis- cretionary allowance of $3,000 for community outreach expenses in- cluding events, promo- tional items and produc- tion costs for mass mail- ings like ward newslet- ters. While councillors un- derspent on the allow- ance, Coun. Dave Kentn- er spent the most, using $2,720.78. Not including Coun. Wendy Farrow- Reed, who was sworn in on Dec. 3, Ward 2 Coun. Bryan Lewis spent the least, using $455.11 of the allowance. The mayor had a dis- cretionary allowance of $14,500 but used just $639.16. Combined, council had a discretionary bud- get of $44,500 and used just $13,982.45. While Bonnette spent less than $1,000 on confer- ence and discretionary spending, he received $25,474.51 in benefits. Ward 2 Coun. Ted Brown and Ward 4 Coun. Bob Inglis both spent $8,610.69 in benefits, while Lewis claimed the least with $648.03. At the top of the list, Brown received a total of $44,664.11 including $8,610.69 in benefits, $2,390.72 in conference and seminar spending, and $1,794.74 in discre- tionary allowance. Coun. Jon Hurst re- ceived the lowest remu- neration for a total of $32,508.96. In 2017, total council remuneration came in at $499,571.74, with council- lors receiving a base sala- ry of $31,012.26.
