Local word lovers came out for an evening of fun and se- cured pledges from family and friends in support of adult learners and literacy. Our event this year was, once again, generously sponsored by the Maple Lodge Farms Foundation. We truly appreciate their continued support of our orga- nization and adult literacy ini- tiatives in the communities of North Halton. We would also like to thank our prize sponsors The Glen Tavern and Georgetown Thai, and the Georgetown Branch of the Halton Hills Public Li- brary for the venue. In today's more technologi- cal society, literacy, numeracy and aptitude with digital tools like computers, the internet and new workplace technolo- gies are the critical building blocks to economic success. Lifelong learning and skills building will open doors and create opportunities for adult learners and workers.
