In addition to details about local servic- es for cancer patients, other topics present- ed will include new therapy for prostate cancer, the BDAP program for breast can- cer detection/diagnosis, post-surgery ap- parel needs, as well as CAShh-supported restorative therapies like tai chi, physio- therapy and lymphedema massage. The Halton Down Syndrome Association will hold its seventh annual walk on Satur- day, June 15 at Milton Fairgrounds in Milton. Halton Walk for Down Syndrome (HDSA) is a two-kilometre walk open to family, friends and the community to increase awareness about Down syndrome and to raise funds for research, education and ad- vocacy programs. Last year's event raised more than $120,000, which enabled HDSA to create op- portunities for individuals with Down syn- drome to develop skills and make connec- tions with each other and the community - including programs like Handwriting With- out Tears; a World Down Syndrome Day school education project and contest; art and music therapy and sign language classes; multi-sports and yoga programs; social skills and cooking class programs; and sup- port and conference bursaries. The event begins at 9 a.m., with the walk starting at 10 a.m. Festivities will go until 2 p.m. and include a carnival, BBQ, pony rides, bouncy castles and a silent auction.
