For farmers, there can be too much of a good thing. Rain is good for crops, but too much rain is not. Farmer Bob Allison said that, in 35 years, this year is the latest he's started planting his crop of sweet corn. "You can count on every year being different," Allison said. "We're always wet here in April, but by May things dry up." Generally, Allison said, he aims to start planting on or around the first of May, but the rainy, cold weather has delayed planting for weeks. "If I plant on May 1, it'll be ready by July 20," Allison said.
