General Committee for the Town of Halton Hills will conduct a Public Meeting to examine and discuss a proposed application received for a temporary use amendment to the Town of Halton Hills Zoning By-law 00-138, as amended. The proposed Temporary Use Zoning By-law Amendment applies to the lands legally described as Part of Lot 15, Concession 11 Trafalgar New Survey, Town of Halton Hills, Regional Municipality of Halton. The subject lands are municipally known as 7886 Winston Churchill Boulevard (Halton Hills Premier Gateway). Below is a map showing the location of the subject property. The purpose and effect of the application is to allow for use of the property as a temporary transport terminal for transport trucks and trailers for three (3) years. If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Town of Halton Hills in respect to the Zoning By-law amendment application, you must make a written request to the Town of Halton Hills - Planning & Sustainability Department at 1 Halton Hills Drive, Halton Hills, Ontario, L7G 5G2. NOTES: 1. If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of the Town of Halton Hills to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Halton Hills before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision. 2. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Halton Hills before the proposed Zoning By-law amendment is adopted/passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so. 3. Any written comment/objection submitted to the Town of Halton Hills regarding this application which is being processed under the Planning Act, may be made public as part of the application process. A Georgetown man is facing numerous charges following an investigation into a rash of thefts from vehicles in town. Throughout late May and early June, several unlocked vehicles were entered in the area of Trafalgar Road and Highway 7 and items were removed. Following the thefts, the thief made fraudulent credit and debit card purchases at local gas sta- tions, police say. "In the early morning hours of June 5, a Georgetown resident witnessed another theft in progress and notified police," said Det. Paul Harrower in a prepared release. "Uniformed officers swarmed the area and a male was taken into custody." During the man's arrest, numerous credit cards and other stolen property were seized. A search warrant was execut- ed at a residence in Georgetown and fur- ther property was seized. Eldon Payne, 31, of Georgetown has been charged with multiple property crime-related offences, including theft un- der $5000, fraudulent use of credit cards and breach of probation. The charges have yet to be tested in court. Police are continuing to investigate fur- ther break and enters in the area that may be connected, and further criminal charg- es are pending. "The Halton Regional Police Service would like to remind members of our com- munity that crime prevention is a shared responsibility," said Harrower. "You can protect yourself from falling victim to these types of crimes by ensuring that valuables are removed from your cars and that your vehicle doors are locked at all times."
