Artists will have three hours to create a painting of scenery at Acton's Prospect Park or nearby areas in downtown Acton, with the public welcome to come and watch the artists at work. Once complete, paintings will be exhibit- ed at the park's boathouse and adjudicated by Jim Reid, a noted landscape painter. The winner will be awarded $500. Artists can register for $10 (a fee waived for Ontario Plein Air Society members). THE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS: • 8:45 a.m. - Registration begins at the Boathouse. • 9:30 a.m. - Artists can start painting. • 12:30 p.m. - Artists must return to the Boathouse. • 2 p.m. - Awards ceremony, with paint- ings available for purchase afterwards. "We are delighted to hold this event in Ac- ton's gem of a park," Mayor Rick Bonnette said. "This is a great way to promote the sce- nic beauty of Halton Hills while providing an excellent opportunity for our local artists to gain exposure for their work." The event will take place on July 20, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in Prospect Park in Ac- ton.The Helson Gallery is located at 9 Church St. in Georgetown.
