Car & T RV Halton police are looking for a man who they say stole a display case of jewelry from a store in the Georgetown Market Place. Shortly after 2 p.m. on July 4, police re- sponded to a report that a man walked into Brilliant Gold Jewellery at the mall and took the case containing jewelry of an un- disclosed value. "The suspect fled the scene on foot," said Const. Steve Elms, who described the sus- pect as a man. CRIME POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT AT GEORGETOWN JEWELRY STORE MELANIE HENNESSEY mhennessey@metroland.com A young Acton man and an Acton youth are facing numerous charges following a vehicle theft on Saturday evening. At 8:30 a.m. on July 14, police observed a white pickup truck travelling at high speed near Trafalgar Road and Highway 7 in Hal- ton Hills. Police received reports that the pickup and another vehicle were possibly racing in the area. When the pickup pulled into a driveway, police determined the ve- hicle had been stolen the night before and arrested the driver at the scene. The 18- year-old accused had also used bank cards found in a wallet left in the vehicle. Also on July 14, police recovered a sto- len ATV and a black pickup truck. The truck was recovered from the Acton Arena and the ATV recovered on Mountainview Road in Georgetown. Golf clubs and sun- glasses in the vehicle were also stolen but not recovered. The accused fled from po- lice on foot but was arrested in a forested area shortly after. The names of the accused are withheld as the 18-year-old accused's identity may lead to the identity of the minor. The 18-year-old accused is charged with: • Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. • Fraudulent use of a credit card. • Dangerous operation of a motor vehi- cle. The 15-year-old accused is charged with: • Three counts of theft of a motor vehi- cle. • Fraudulent use of a credit card. • Resisting arrest. • Two counts of failure to comply with sentence or disposition related to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. • Three counts of failure to comply with recognizance. Both were held for bail. ACTON MAN AND YOUTH ARRESTED AFTER PICKUP TRUCKS, ATV STOLEN BRYAN MYERS bmyers@metroland.com An Acton man was arrested on July 10 following a police investigation. Drug unit officers executed two search warrants and arrested one man. During the investigation, police located and seized 364 grams of cocaine, 9.4 grams of psilocybin, one gram of MDMA, packaging, scales, and more than $25,000 in Canadian currency as well as two counterfeit $100 bills. The drugs have a street value of more than $30,000. Jesse McFadden, 24, of Acton, is charged with: • Possession for the purpose of traffick- ing cocaine • Possession of MDMA • Possession of psilocybin • Possession of counterfeit money McFadden will appear in court on July 11.
