Halton Hills Child Care Centre has made itself at home in south Georgetown. On July 8, the non-profit organization officially relo- cated from its longtime lo- cation on Park Avenue to a plaza on Mountainview Road South. The larger space has made way for an increase in the number of licensed child care spaces provided from 108 to 114. "We're excited to not on- ly relocate to a new home, but also expand and offer more to the community," said the centre's board chair, William McCombe. "Our day-to-day program- ming is really what makes the centre great." Halton Hills Child Care Centre has been operating in the community for 33 years and is governed by a volunteer board of direc- tors. With some of the staff members being there for the past three decades, the children and their parents are bound to see a familiar face, giving the centre a homey feel, notes McCombe. The facility offers play- based programming for in- fants, toddlers and pre- school-age children, along with before and after school care. A full-time cook pre- pares fresh meals daily for the youngsters. While the centre was a mainstay in the Park Ave- nue community, director Conny Paton said the fami- lies she and her staff pro- vide care for have been very supportive of the move, with some of the preschool- ers channeling their excite- ment into packing boxes. "They (the parents) all said it doesn't matter where you go, we're coming with you," she said. "We strive to build those really good rela- tionships." BUSINESS The Halton Hills Child Care Centre recently celebrated its grand opening at a new location on Mountainview Road South.
