During the first two weeks of August, officers will be focusing on inter- sections controlled by traf- fic signals throughout the two municipalities. The campaign is an effort to protect vulnerable road us- ers such as pedestrians and cyclists, who face the risk of drivers not stopping at a red light when turning right. Those caught failing to stop will receive a ticket with a set fine of $325 and, upon conviction, have three demerit points added to their licence. In addition to police en- forcement, Halton Region operates five red light cam- era locations in Milton and three in Halton Hills. In Milton, the cameras are lo- cated along Derry Road at its intersections with Com- mercial Street/Santa Ma- ria Boulevard, James Snow Parkway, Ontario Street, Savoline Boulevard and Trafalgar Road. In Halton Hills, the cam- eras can be found on 10 Si- deroad at its intersections with Eighth and Ninth lines, and also Trafalgar Road and 5 Sideroad. Drivers caught on cam- era going through or fail- ing to yield at a red light will also receive a $325 tick- et, either personally served to them or in the mail.
