The fundraiser event for local youth is set to take place on August 10 at the Gellert Community Centre, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone being featured as this year's movie. Organizers are expecting over 1,000 resi- dents to attend the festivities, which will in- clude games, prizes awarded for costumes, food trucks, a silent auction table and local vendors. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at sundown. A $5 donation is requested for admission. Last year's Movie Under the Stars was at- tended by over 850 residents and raised more than $10,000. The funds were donated to the Halton Hills Youth Centre and used to support an intensive youth worker position at both the Acton and Georgetown locations. In partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK), the intensive youth worker en- sures that all youth frequenting the centres are provided access to mental health servic- es. The event is presented by title sponsors Georgetown Chevrolet Buick GMC, Genera- tions Physiotherapy Centre, the SilSells Team at Royal LePage Meadowtowne, the Club at North Halton, Scotiabank, Tim Hor- tons, Appleby Home Comfort and Party Cin- emas. A variety of other local businesses are also supporting the cause as corporate spon- sors and vendors. The first 500 wristband holders will re- ceive an LED wand on movie night. Wrist- bands are available for a $5 donation at the aforementioned sponsor locations (except Tim Hortons and Party Cinemas).
