23 | The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,A ugust 8,2019 theifp.ca Once again, the Hamilton Amateur Astronomers will open the gates at Binbrook Con- servation Area to hold its annu- al free Perseid meteor shower public night on Friday, Aug. 9 from 8-11 p.m. The event is taking place at 5050 Harrison Rd. in Binbrook and has always been a crowd- pleaser, drawing a record 919 visitors last year. Although the meteor shower peaks Aug. 12 and 13, you should be able to see a good showing on Aug. 9. It's not always a good year to watch the annual Perseid mete- or shower show. Unfortunately, this will be one of those years since the moon will wash out most of the faint meteors. If you plan to attend, you don't need a telescope, just a lot of curiosity. You should bring a blanket, groundsheet or lounge chair, because lying down under the summer sky is the preferred method to enjoy the cosmic show. Even though it won't be the best year to watch meteors, you'll probably see the brighter ones, listen to a night sky tour and gaze through telescopes. Mosquitoes can be nasty at this time of year, so apply repellent, wear pants and a long-sleeved shirt. The club will also be collect- ing non-perishable food or cash donations on behalf of Hamil- ton Food Share, and any help you can give would be appreci- ated. The event may be cancelled due to poor weather conditions, so check the club's website at amateurastronomy.org before leaving home. Here are August stargaz- ing events, which are listed in the Hamilton Amateur As- tronomers calendar. Aug. 9: Jupiter is close to the moon in the evening sky. Mer- cury is at its greatest elongation and will be a great time to see the elusive plant as a morning star in the predawn sky just be- fore twilight. Aug. 11: Saturn close to the moon in the evening sky. Aug. 24: The crescent moon is in the Hyades cluster in the predawn sky. Aug. 28: The crescent moon is in the Beehive cluster at dawn. Aug. 30: The close new moon will bring high tides. For more information, see the Hamilton Amateur Astron- omers website (amateurastro- nomy.org) or call 905-627-4323. The club offers a basic astrono- my course for members. This option is often preferred as they know you and your circumstances and have your best interests in mind. Since the role of an estate trustee can be very demanding, you should be sure that the person is willing and capable of carrying out the responsibilities of executor. In addition to choosing a primary Estate Trustee, you should also select an alternate in the event your first choice predeceases you or is unable or unwilling to act when the time comes. Alternatively, a corporate or professional executor may be preferred where family and friends lack knowledge of estate administration, financial responsibility, or the time to administer an estate. A professional executor may be a lawyer or accountant with the expertise, experience and sensitivity needed for estate settlement and administration intricacies. A corporate executor such as a trust company may be desirable where the estate is large or complex, a conflict within the family is likely, or if a long-term commitment is involved, such as administering a trust for children or a disabled beneficiary.
