Every morning, Kostas Liakopoulos, the 62-year- old owner of Rallis Burger, comes to the diner to pre- pare the burgers by hand. "I don't use a machine," he said, flexing his bicep. "I do it by hand." Every burger Liakopou- los grills is lean ground beef, fresh eggs, oregano, thyme and ginger. "We cook with our hearts," he said. "There are no shortcuts." While burgers are what Rallis Burgers is known for, the menu offers a vari- ety of breakfast and lunch items including omelettes, salads, sandwiches and fresh-cut fries. Before Liakopoulos pur- chased Rallis Burger, he worked at a number of iconic Greek restaurants in the Greater Toronto Ar- ea. Notably, he pitched the idea of drive-through Greek food while working for Mr. Greek. The move helped the franchise expand from a second location in Scarbor- ough to several franchises across the GTA. When Liakopoulos looked to set out on his own, he settled on the Ac- ton location, seeing poten- tial in the business. Liakopoulos has owned the restaurant for eight years, and reimagined the well-known Acton gem from a greasy spoon with menu boards to what Euro- peans would recognize as a bistro. "A bistro is a small local restaurant where they serve local food," he said. "That's what I had in mind, and it's local food, I work with local people." Rallis Burger is located at 294 Queen St. in Acton. This is known as the "friendly parent rule" or "maximum contact principle". The provision attempts to promote a child's right to contact with both parents. It is based on the assumption that the needs and interests of a child are best met when the child maintains significant contact with both parents. The most contact each parent can have at the same time is 50/50, or commonly referred to as "shared parenting". The caveat is the level of contact has to be consistent with the best interests of the child. It is sometimes found that a significant amount of time with a particular parent is not in fact in a child's best interests. For obvious reasons, this can be a very sensitive issue when parents separate, and we can certainly assist you with that. Lockyer + Hein LLP is a full service law firm that does a lot of family law.
