While the fair is held to promote local agriculture, a va- riety of entertainment is scheduled through- out the weekend, including a demolition der- by on Saturday night, live music, a magician and midway rides. The festival runs from Sept. 6 to 8. Tickets to the fair are $8 on Friday for adults, $10 on Saturday and Sunday. Children seven to 12 years old are $3, and children six and under are free. An all-day pass for three people is $25. 1. All about agriculture Visitors can learn all about the way local farmers raise cows, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, rabbits, and chickens at the Agricul- ture Education Tent. And with cream provid- ed by Neilson, visitors will also have an op- portunity to churn their own butter. 2 - The former fall fair mascot was a purple pig The pig was dyed prior to the festival with grape juice, but changing regulations put an end to the purple pig tradition. 3 - About 8,000 people will attend over the weekend Originally, a one-day fair started in a clearing near Stewarttown, the Fall Fair has expanded over 173 years to a three-day festi- val celebrating local agriculture. 4 - A portion of the proceeds from the gate admission goes to the Knights of Co- lumbus Manned by the Knights of Columbus, a portion of proceeds from gate admissions will be donated to CASHH. Editor's Note: Aug. 29 - This article was ed- ited from a previous version that mistakenly said all proceeds from gate admission got to CASHH, a portion of proceeds from gate ad- mission go to the Knights of Columbus, who donate to CASHH. It's recently been found that food allergies may trigger ear infections, which left untreated can cause hearing loss. The allergies create mucous congestion in the nose, which then flows into the tube connecting the nose to the ears. Eventually the tube gets blocked and infection causing bacteria grow. To determine if food allergies are causing your child's ear infection have him/her tested. Once the troublesome food is discovered your physician can suggest alternatives. And take heart, kids often outgrow food allergies - and their tendency towards ear infections. For more information feel free to call…
