Over a two-week campaign dubbed "Project Stop on Red," over 100 drivers were charged with run- ning a red light. Over the 14-day period: • 92 individuals were charged with failing to stop at a red light • Two individuals were charged with failing to stop at an amber light • One charge of failing to yield to traffic at a red light • One charge of proceeding be- fore green light • Eight charges of failing to stop at a red light - warning • One charge of failing to yield to traffic at a red light - warning The penalty for running a red light is a set fine of $325, with three demerit points being added to a li- cence upon conviction. On top of Project Stop on Red, Halton Region operates five red light locations in Milton and three in Halton Hills: In the Town of Milton: • Derry Road and Commercial Street/Santa Maria Boulevard • Derry Road and James Snow Parkway • Derry Road and Ontario Street • Derry Road and Savoline Bou- levard • Derry Road and Trafalgar Road In the Town of Halton Hills: • 10 Side Road and Eighth Line • 10 Side Road and Ninth Line • Trafalgar Road and 5 Side Road If vehicles are caught on cam- era going through - or failing to yield to - a red light, the registered owner of the vehicle will receive a ticket. Tickets will arrive in the mail or will be personally served. Motorists have 45 days to pay a mailed ticket and 30 days to pay a personally-served ticket.
