The four Acton ladies completed the inaugural 110-kilometre relay in Cale- don on World Duchenne Day to increase awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and to raise funds for research. Meg van Asseldonk is mom to six-year-old Isaac, who has Duchenne muscu- lar dystrophy. The family founded the annual kids trail run in Acton, called Isaac's Trek for Treats, which is set to take place on Oct. 26. The family-friendly cos- tume run along the path through the Tanners Drive woodlot supports Jesse's Journey, which funds Du- chenne research. Acton, in particular the running community, has rallied around Isaac's fami- ly since his diagnosis. Ear- lier this year, a group of Ac- ton runners covered a col- lective 200 miles (322 km) in Ragnar Niagara Falls and raised over $5,000 for Is- sac's Trek.
