The purpose and effect of Amendment No. 37 is to establish a Secondary Plan for the Georgetown Downtown Area, generally bounded by Guelph Street, the Silver Creek valley, Maple Avenue, and the Park District as shown on Attachment 1 to this notice. The Secondary Plan establishes a clear vision and detailed planning (land use and built form) framework for Downtown Georgetown, which is both a cultural, institutional, and business hub of the community, as well as a residential and mixed use intensification area as identified in the Official Plan. The Secondary Plan provides a basis for the evaluation of future development applications to ensure the heritage character and multi-faceted, mixed use function of the downtown is protected, while accommodating new development. No public submissions were made with respect to OPA 37. All public agency submissions received regarding OPA 37 were considered as part of the Town's review process. Several changes were made to the amendments, such as a revision to the boundary of the Downtown Regeneration Area to include six properties on the east side of Park Avenue adjacent to the Silver Creek valley; the removal of 2 proposed trail connections from the Silver Creek valley to Main Street that were not considered feasible or critical to the overall trail network; and the inclusion of new policies pertaining to such matters as: affordable housing and density targets, development phasing, and universal accessibility. Approval Authority Official Plan Amendment No. 37 requires approval of the Regional Municipality of Halton (the approval authority) under subsection 17(22) of the Planning Act. Any person or public body will be entitled to receive notice of the decision of the approval authority if a written request to be notified of the decision (including the person's or public body's address, fax number or email address) is made to the approval authority. But Kathleen Greb, a Halton Hills entre- preneur, is looking to change that with her new business CannTerp. "Terpenes are what make things smell, in essence," Greb said. While the term, terpenes, has gained more recognition since the legalization of cannabis, they're found everywhere. Scientifically speaking, a terpene is an organic, aromatic, molecule found in spic- es, fruits, trees, and flowers, and beyond. "In cannabis, it's a major distinction be- tween strains and how they make you feel," Greb said. Greb started CannTerp after seeing how different strains of medical cannabis drastically affect her husband, a sufferer of chronic pain who was among the first people in Canada to receive a licence for medical cannabis. Greb's three product lines -- BudBoost- er, BongBooster, and AirBooster -- are ter- pene isolates, two of which, are marketed as infusions for cannabis. The BudBooster product, are pearls that infuse dried cannabis flower with ter- pene blends that include limonene, myr- cene, terpinolene, and more. "I'm a fan of essential oils," Greb said, noting there is a distinction between essen- tial oils and terpenes. Essential oils con- tain terpenes, while terpenes are a further purified essential oil containing the most active components. Certain strains of cannabis, Greb said, may relieve pain for certain people. "There is a lot of homegrowing going on," Greb said. "It's legal now, and our product would allow you to take a strain of cannabis and add terpenes to it to have a completely dif- ferent effect." CannTerp specializes in "cannabis-ad- jacent" products, there's no actual canna- bis in anything sold, but two-thirds of Greb's products are designed with canna- bis users in mind. "Lots of people are curious," Greb said. "The stigma is dissipating." "You really have to try them to under- stand the importance of them," Greb said.
