The Georgetown Chap- ter of the Canadian Feder- ation of University Wom- en, the Halton Environ- mental Network, and the Halton Hills Public Li- brary are co-hosting an all-candidates debate for the federal election. It's part of the 100 de- bates on the environment series. The series, made up of 100 inclusive, politically neutral and environmen- tally-focused debates, will ask candidates across Canada the same four questions regarding the environment in an effort to ensure no party and no candidate can ignore the issue. CFUW Georgetown will also ask an additional four questions to candidates at the debate. Community members may also bring questions to submit for the debate. The all-candidates de- bate is being held at the John Elliot Theater (9 Church St.) on Oct. 3, from 6 to 9:30 p.m., with the de- bate starting at 7 p.m. FEDERAL ELECTION WELLINGTON-HALTON HILLS CANDIDATES TO TALK ENVIRONMENT AT 100 DEBATES BRYAN MYERS bmyers@metroland.com Residents from Halton Hills and beyond rallied on Friday afternoon in the fight against climate change. More than 200 children and adults marched along Guelph Street armed with signs, drawing plenty of supportive honks from those passing by in vehi- cles. The kids in attendance also participated in an ac- tivity with earth-themed parachutes that were hand-painted by local youth as part of the global Parachutes for the Planet initiative.
