Stan, in his 64th year, leaves behind the love of his life, best friend and 'teammate' Linda. He was a very proud father to his children: Jennifer (Tee), Amanda (Matt) and Stan Jr. (Candice) and excited to be a first time Grandfather to Chayce. Stan was dedicated to his family and loved nothing more than having them seated around the kitchen table while he prepared his signature dishes to (loud) radio tunes. He was very sentimental by nature and would spend countless hours planning and ensuring customs and traditions were practised (from Easter basket blessing to endlessly watching family favourite movies). Stan's unique sense of humour was unmatched. His quick wit (reciting classic movie lines) never failed to brighten any situation. His personality, thoughtfulness and unconditional love will live on in our hearts forever. Stan will be affectionately remembered as 'baby brother' by his three sisters, Barbara, Krystyna (Richard) and Danuta (the late Michael) and a loving Uncle by his nephews Stan and Terry Jr. (Shannon) and niece, Veronica (York). Stan had many passions in life. He loved his job as a construction site superintendent. During his 40 year career in retail construction management, Stan was highly regarded and greatly respected by all in the industry. He had the talent to make any job site thrive with fun and laughter even in the most stressful deadline situations. He was the happiest when working with his son, in tandem. Work crews would label them Stan1 and Stan2. His superior carpentry skills were reflected in his home. Stan's garage was his workshop and an organized mess would be an understatement. Home renovations were ongoing and he was forever planning his next project. His Mr. Fix-It skills will be greatly missed (Dad could fix anything!). Stan loved animals and some of his most cherished and gratifying times were spent feeding them - whether sharing his own food with the family dog and any 4-legged visitors or table scraps with wildlife (chipmunks and squirrels in his backyard, ducks and geese in snowy, cold Winnipeg and even wild turtles in Florida). He would always have a dog treat or peanut in his pocket for a chance encounter. A day wouldn't go by without Stan taking care of his friends in nature. After all, he would say "everybody's gotta eat." Stan had a genuine interest in the lives of others. He always enjoyed sharing a "cold one" with family and friends as well as strangers he met in his travels, many becoming friends. All are invited to raise a glass in his honour at Stan's Celebration of Life on Friday November 8th, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Acton Legion (15 Wright Avenue, Acton) Cheers! Our family would like to thank the medical team at The Credit Valley Hospital and in particular, Charmaine and Julia for their outstanding care and ongoing support. A heartfelt thanks to the Acclaim Health home care team of Marzena and RN Diana for their compassionate care and invaluable support. In memory, contributions to the Upper Credit Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. After experiencing a system malfunction and core breach, the command center and engineering were unable to repair the breach. After several attempts at rebooting and recharging the system, the power drives were low and unable to sustain life support function. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Montgomery. May he continue his journey through time and space. Left at the helm are wife Marion, daughters Vicki (Brian) and Robin, along with his favourite fur babies. He was a loving husband and father, a great friend, and teacher. We were blessed to have him in our lives. He will be remembered fondly in our hearts. He loved building model planes, good scotch, and would bend your ear over war history, historic planes, occupational safety, and just about anything. He was a teacher, program coordinator and part creator/instigator/organizer for the Safety Engineering program once offered at Humber College. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held in the Trafalgar Room at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, 905-877-3631 on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, with memories of Jim being shared at 3:00 pm.
