A six-foot scroll with close to 300 signatures from people of all ages was pre- sented to Wellington-Hal- ton Hills MPP Ted Arnott during an assembly at Eth- el Gardiner Public School on Dec. 13. The lengthy document - which asks for all MPPs to develop a climate action plan that will ensure Onta- rio meets its obligations under the Paris Agreement and achieves carbon neu- trality by 2050 - was pre- sented by Grade 7 student Spencer Lippa, a local envi- ronmental activist who has been dubbed 'Georgetown's answer to Greta Thunberg.' "Everyone who put their name on that scroll, and I believe everyone in this room, wants the same thing - climate action now to protect our planet for a better tomorrow," he said. "Today, my wish to make a big difference is being real- ized." Arnott told the students he will drop the scroll off at Premier Doug Ford's office to ensure he's aware that lo- cal constituents' want the government to take greater climate action. A similar scroll appeal has already gone to Ottawa with Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong.
