GEORGETOWN *Offer ends December 24th, while quantities last UNITEDLUMBER.CA derway to source a new operator for a local office, he explained. Notices were pub- lished in the Independent last fall to gener- ate interest, but Malhi was unable to pro- vide further details, such as whether any interested parties have come forward yet, due to the confidentiality of the procure- ment process. He also couldn't comment on where the office will be located. "The targeted date to have a new service provider open a ServiceOntario centre is late-spring, provided a qualified propo- nent is identified through the procure- ment," he said. "We will inform the com- munity with details once we have secured a new service provider." The previous operator closed the local office in February 2019, citing rising costs and stagnant commissions as the reasons behind the decision. ServiceOntario issues licence plate sticker and driver's licence renewals, vehi- cle registrations, accessible parking per- mits, health card renewals and replace- ments, birth, marriage and death certifi- cates, and hunting and fishing licences. There are two ServiceOntario offices in Milton (Main Street and High Point Drive, off Regional Road 25, just north of Hwy. 401) and two in the west end of Brampton (McLaughlin Road and another on Wex- ford Road, just off Hurontario). While waiting for a Georgetown office to re-open, Malhi said residents can access over 40 services online, including health card renewals and a number of driver and vehicle services, at ontario.ca/page/servi- ceontario.
