"The community deserves a park," Jack Robertson, a long- time Hornby resident, said. In 2018, plans for the construc- tion of a new Halton Regional Po- lice Services station were pro- posed during a Corporate and Community Affairs committee meeting. The recommended lo- cation for the station is on a por- tion of land deemed 'surplus land' at Hornby Park, 12790 Steeles Ave. While the station would take up five acres, leaving 7.5 acres of the park intact, much of the re- maining acreage would be locat- ed on a natural slope and covered in brush. "There won't be much of a park," Robertson said. "They're taking all the frontage, people driving along Steeles Ave. won't even see the park." While the plans were recom- mended in December 2018, Rob- ertson said residents of Hornby weren't notified until almost a year later.
