(Before the summer sun heats your attic up!) and disappointed to only find out through a report on the Premier Gateway plan," Snow said. In the past, many Horn- by residents belonged to an organized community group known as the Horn- by Association of Rate Pay- ers, but in recent years the group has relaxed into a group of volunteers. At the Feb. 10, Town of Halton Hills Council meet- ing, Coun. Bryan Lewis told residents attempts had been made to contact them. "It's not really fair to say there's been no discus- sion," Lewis said. "We can go back and find for years this has been a topic of dis- cussion." Years prior to the police station proposal, council, having heard concerns from HARP, voted down an offer to sell the land to a de- veloper. In its current state, the park has two ball dia- monds, a small play area, and an out-of-service pa- vilion slated for repair in 2022. Should the HRPS sta- tion be approved, Hornby Park would become a 'pas- sive park,' a space primari- ly intended for walking and picnicking. "We feel we've been ig- nored or discounted," Snow said. "This park was primarily funded by peo- ple from Hornby." Annually, the park gen- erates about $50,000 for the Town of Halton Hills com- ing from a near-equal por- tion of ball diamond book- ings and revenue from an on-site cell tower. The sale of the park would provide the remain- ing portion of Hornby Park with $300,000 allocated for improvements to the park and- the renovation of the King Pavilion. In recognition of the park's history, town staff recommended renaming two ball diamonds in ho- nour of the park. The ball diamond in Hornby Park would be named the Howden Dia- mond in recognition of El- va Howden, a longtime community volunteer. At Trafalgar Sports Park, a diamond would be named the "Hornby Diamond." While the decision was set to be made at the Feb. 10 council meeting, council deferred the item to allow more time to speak with residents.
