As we have seen, our efforts to stay homewhenwe can and practice physical distancing have had a positive impact, but wemust continue thesemeasures to not only flatten and plank the curve. I would be the first to admit that "physical distance" has been a challenge for me, as in normal times I make an effort to practice "physical presence" in our Riding, throughmeetings with constituents and attending community events, and helping out however I can. But these days, my staff and I are working remotely on your behalf. We all need to remember the advice of our mental health organizations and advocates about how to navigate these difficult times and reduce our stress and anxiety as much as possible: · Use crediblemedia sources to stay informed, but take a break from it when you need to · Be kind to yourself, and to others · Stay active by going out for a walk (being sure tomaintain appropriate physical distancing), or try exercising at home · Reach out to others through phone calls, texts, or video calls Please know there are also still a number of community resources available to assist you if you are struggling during this period of physical distancing and ever-changing circumstances, including: · CanadianMental Health Association Waterloo-Wellington branch: 1-844-437-3247 · CanadianMental Health Association Halton Region branch: 1-877-693-4270 · ConnexOntario: 1-866-531-2600 As always, my staff and I are here to help onmatters involving the Provincial Government, andwe can be reached by phone or e-mail. The region isn't reveal- ing where the death oc- curred, the gender of the deceased person or in which municipality they resided. "Halton Region Public Health staff cannot speak to the details of individual COVID-19 cases beyond the information provided on our website," spokes- person Julia Le said in an email Thursday evening. Halton Region had been reporting these details ear- lier. Georgetown resident Jack Martin Kerman, known as Marty, died April 3 just a week shy of his 87th birthday. He is one of the COVID-19 deaths in the re- gion. Kerman, a married fa- ther of two, grandfather of eight and great grandfa- ther of five, lived in the Mountainview Residence retirement home. He was taken to hospital in late March after a fall and sub- sequently tested positive for COVID-19. His son, Randy Kerman, said his dad "passed away in his sleep suffering the rage of COVID-19." In a Facebook post, Ker- man described his father as "a wonderful man who raised me to be the man, husband, father and Zadie (grandfather) that I am." He said the community must learn from what this "horrible plague" is doing to the world. "What is important is what we all can do to help slow the cause for others -- this is no hoax, it's not some country's fault -- blame game doesn't save lives. Social distancing, washing hands regularly -- staying home period," he wrote on Facebook. Two other coronavirus- related deaths in Halton were Milton and Oakville residents.
