Professional Arts Building 99 Sinclair Ave., Suite 210, Georgetown 905-873-6642 Serving the community of Halton Hills and surrounding areas since 1992 The Georgetown The actual cause or event or mechanism of Tinnitus is not known. We know it is real; it is a symptom that something is wrong in the auditory system, but we do not know what that something is. We do know that it is not the patients imagination; it is a physiological or neurological event. There is reason to be hopeful because current research using a Tinnitus model may provide the necessary information for identifying it's cause. IS IT ASSOCIATED WITH HEARING LOSS? In most cases, Tinnitus is associated with some hearing loss. For example, those who have been exposed to excessively loud sounds may have a hearing loss for the high pitched tones. Usually their Tinnitus will be located as a high pitched tone in the region of the hearing loss. In some cases Tinnitus is present where there is no hearing loss and for no discernable reason. Halton Hills Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) Visit letstalkhaltonhills.ca on April 27 & give us your input on the final phases of the Halton Hills ATMP The Town is hosting its first ever Virtual Open House Did you ever think we would be experiencing such a pandemic in our lifetime? Unable to go to the Hills- view Active Living Centre to meet with friends and take part in our programs. Un- able to visit our friends or relatives, staying a hockey stick's length away from ev- erybody, wearing masks and rubber gloves, lining up to get into the grocery store, and on it goes? But there is a positive side to all this and, personal- ly, I prefer to dwell on that. I think of all the people who have called to check up on me and others. To you all I say thank you a million times for your thoughtful- ness. I know I speak on be- half of all of us. Are you using this time to clean out all those cup- boards and drawers? Really? Well, try as I might, I just can't get that urge. Be hon- est! I did find the bottom of my clothes hamper. But I have to keep doing laundry to keep seeing it. Never thought I would find laun- dry so rewarding. Terri, Sherry and Kim are still at Hillsview clean- ing out, disinfecting, getting to all the things that never get finished when the centre is full. As far as the adminis- trative parts of the opera- tion, things are still moving ahead -- program planning, reports, grants, annual gen- eral meeting (AGM) via email and the list goes on. All this business doesn't stop when the centre is closed. The town is using Zoom to host meetings, so all staff are still engaged in their work program as well as all the different training and education that was sched- uled -- now happening through the many opportu- nities technology gives us. Exciting is the new "Cen- tre Without Walls" program that the office has started, using a special conference call system. We can now par- ticipate in different pro- grams when the centre is closed just by using our phones (cell or landlines). It will be featured each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 10 a.m. Call the number provided and press the code (numbers provided). It's just like a tele- phone call-in talk show. It is fun and keeps us involved. If you need more information call Sherry at 905-877-6444 to get connected and she will either give you the number over the phone or email you a copy of the schedule. Get in the groove. Give it a try. This is open to the community as well; you don't have to be a member to try it. My plants in a basket that I got at the centre a couple of weeks ago are doing great, even for me -- a non-garden- er. I have the most beautiful pansies and I may be picking my own strawberries soon. Could be that I remembered to water them and even talk to them. Florence Riehl is an ac- tive member of the Hillsview Active Living Centre in Georgetown.
