Riddle Sweet Little Miss MouffetteRiddle is a nervous cat found as a stray by the side of the road, and taken in by a good Samaritan. She could not keep him, and he is here with us now, waiting for a new home. Riddle might give a warning hiss when you approach, but soon will allow you to pet him. Once he is comfortable with you, he will seek you out to be petted. He loves wet food and picks a spot in the room to claim as his own. We are working to build up his trust in people, which will take time. He needs a person who will be patient and allow him to settle into a new home at his own pace. Riddle is FIV+, which means that he has a compromised immune system. Most cats with FIV live long normal lives, if they are kept indoors and fed a high-quality diet. Our staff can tell you more about FIV when you speak to them. If you think you might be just the right person for Riddle, please call 519-833-2287 to make an appointment. Sweet "little Miss Mouffette" was found wandering as a stray in a Georgetown neighbourhood. She was fed and cared for by good samaritan local residents, who contacted NHKR to take her in. Mouffette came in to foster care with a broken tooth, which caused her some discomfort. The tooth has since been removed and she has been spayed and micro chipped. She is now ready to find her furever family. Mouffette is a low maintenance girl who loves attention from her people. She doesn't have the typical energy of a young cat. She enjoys playing for a short time, and then will push her head into your hand for some scratches and rubs behind the ears. One of her favourite things to do is to sit on the window sill and watch the birds fly by. Although she enjoys looking outside, she does not attempt to get out. She is happy and content indoors. Mouffette likes to curl up beside people, but doesn't typically sleep or sit on laps. Her preferred sleeping spot is at the top of the cat tree. She tolerates being picked up but prefers to follow you around with her feet on the floor. When she wants attention, she will meow and talk until you answer her. She is a chatty cat. Mouffette is still getting used to playing and living in a home. She wants to be where her people are, but she still startles easily if she hears a loud noise, or if you approach her unexpectedly. She will run away but will quickly return. She wants to be loved and every day she is becoming more confident in her space. She is very tidy in her litter box, eats well, is good about getting her nails trimmed, and sleeps well at night. Because of her easygoing nature, Mouffette will fit in to almost any environment. She would be happy as an only cat, or as a companion for an older cat or dog. She is not aggressive with other cats, and is happy to interact with them when they engage her, but she doesn't often seek them out. Mouffette is comfortable with children who are old enough to understand when playtime is done and who are happy to play and snuggle with her.
