Project number: Scheduled start date: Scheduled completion date: Contractor: The Town of Halton Hills staff held a te- leconference with representatives from the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce, and the Acton and Georgetown BIAs to provide clarification on the provincial an- nouncement about reopening retail busi- nesses. Here is the agreed-upon interpretation of the provincial announcement: • Retail stores eligible to reopen applies only to self-contained businesses. To re- open, businesses must have their own indi- vidual entrances and exits, either to a pub- lic road or parking lot, to provide curbside pickup and delivery. • Businesses must have their own wash- room facilities for staff. • Retail businesses within enclosed shopping malls or plazas, without their own entrance and exit access to a public road or parking lot, are not permitted to of- fer curbside pickup under current regula- tions. The participants in the teleconference also addressed other issues, including the lack of availability of wireless payment units, the profitability of opening in this manner and securing employees to return to work. A set of frequently asked questions has been posted on the town's website. halton- hills.ca/COVID19 "The one thing I want to really empha- size, is to be kind to one another," said Hal- ton Hills mayor Rick Bonnette. "I am hear- ing stories of people who, out of concern for their own health, are being disrespect- ful to others. The people working in retail are serving the needs of this community and we should all recognize their efforts and come together, particularly during this difficult time."
