Halton school boards are taking a virtual approach to recognizing student excel- lence this spring. The Halton District School Board held its Cele- bration of Student Excel- lence gala May 14 at www.hdsb.ca (which can be viewed under the student drop down menu bar). Nominations of the 104 re- cipients across the region -- at the elementary and high school level -- cited such qualities as 'striving for ex- cellence', 'positive attitude', 'integrity', 'dedicated ath- lete' and 'inclusivity'. The Halton Catholic Dis- trict School Board has an- nounced its Student Awards of Excellence and its Spirit of Inclusion Awards winners at www.hcdsb.org. The awards of excellence celebrate one student from each elementary and sec- ondary who demonstrates outstanding qualities in Catholic leadership, family commitment, involvement in school affairs and com- munity activities. COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARDS CELEBRATE STUDENT EXCELLENCE. VIRTUALLY A Miller Drive family created this rock garden - inviting neighbours to add to it - after its Aunt Jessie was stricken with COVID-19. There's been plenty of positive feedback from the neighbourhood, and more importantly Aunt Jessie has been moved out of the ICU after nearly six weeks. Scott Dunn photo 'JESSIE'S GARDEN OF HOPE'
