Silver 2018 HaltonH ills COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on events that have become staples in the community. Acton's Canada Day fireworks display is the lat- est event to be cancelled due to the pandemic. The Acton Fire Fighters Association, which puts on the display each year, was prepared to mark its 50th anniversary of lighting up the sky over Prospect Park on Canada Day. "The Acton Fire Fighters Association deeply regrets to inform the community that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are cancelling our Canada Day fireworks display in the interest of public safety," the associa- tion said in a statement. "We would like to thank our community and our local businesses for your gener- osity and continued support of all our events." The association also thanked the Town of Hal- ton Hills and the Halton Hills Fire Department. Although its 50th show will have to wait for a year, the firefighters vowed to make up for it next year. "We will have to make our show even more im- pressive than normal." NEWS The Acton Fire Fighters Association was set to mark its 50th year of providing Canada Day fireworks, but the annual event has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
