On May 11, shortly after 10:15 p.m. police responded to a report of vehicles on fire in front of GT Auto (546 Guelph St.). Investigators deter- mined the vehicles were in- tentionally set on fire and are investigating the inci- dent as arson. The fire was quickly extinguished and there was no damage to the business or surrounding structures. Surveillance video ob- tained by police show a sus- pect pouring what police believe to be gas on the ve- hicles and lighting them on fire. In the process, the sus- pect also appears to have "lit one of his feet on fire," police said in a release. He was last seen running west across the front of the busi- ness towards Louisa Street. The suspect is a man and was wearing a black hoodie and black sweat pants at the time. A vehicle of interest was also identified: a gold or sil- ver four-door sedan, possi- bly a Honda Prelude or Ac- cord. Police are asking any- one in the area of Guelph St. or Louisa St. at the time of the incident who may have dashcam footage to contact Det. Cst. Sorrell or Det. Maltar at 905-825-4747 ext. 2416.
