The need for improvements to Eighth Line has been identified due to increased population and greater demand on the Town's road network. The Class EA study will evaluate traffic capacity, travel demand management measures, safety issues, natural environment impacts, land use implications, transit and active transportation considerations. The preferred solution is to widen Eighth Line within the Study Area with consideration for improvements to existing road infrastructure and active transportation features. Several alternative design concepts for the preferred solution have been identified and evaluated based on potential impacts to natural, socio-cultural, technical and financial environments and a preliminary preferred design concept has been identified. The Process The Study is being carried out in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule C projects as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared and made available for public review and comment. Opportunity to Participate Consultation is an important part of this study. The Town of Halton Hills would like to ensure that anyone interested can provide input on the planning and design of the Project. The first Public Information Centre (PIC) for this EA Study was held on October 16, 2019. Due to the current closures of public spaces for large gatherings, PIC#2 will be held virtually on the Town's engagement platform. The presentation and engagement material can be found on letstalkhaltonhills.ca starting June 8, 2020. The Town encourages residents to visit the platform to view the PIC#2 presentation and provide feedback. At this time, we request your feedback be provided by June 30, 2020.
