We are not sure if Chantilly (black) and Lace (black and white) are related but they were found together and the two moms helped raise each other's kittens in NHKR care. They are always together, and are truly best friends. It's heartwarming to see them, rubbing against each other as they walk with their little tails curling together. Lace is the more outgoing and confident of the two. Chantilly is a bit more reserved and unsure and looks to Lace for guidance. With strangers, they are very curious but cautious at first, but they come around because they enjoy attention. Patience will be required while the girls settle into a new home. These ladies have a lot of love to give. They are both very affectionate and adore being petted and respond by purring joyfully. Although they are not quite lap cats, they are in training! They test the waters frequently, by walking on top of sitting people and pausing to be petted and sometimes lying down on a lap for a brief cuddle. Chantilly isn't that fond of being picked up but is learning to enjoy it. Lace is fine with being held and will even snuggle for a bit. Both girls allow their nails to be trimmed with little difficulty, they are gentle and willing to learn. The girls are clean with their food and have tidy litter box habits. Lace is very active and is possibly part dog as she loves playing fetch.She hasn't perfected bringing the ball back, instead she likes to carry the ball in her mouth and will sometimes bat the ball towards people for it to be thrown again. Lacey also loves the feather on a stick, and it's impressive how high she can jump to catch it. Chantilly is active as well and likes to play but not with as much enthusiasm as Lace. If people are unavailable for play time they will happily play together, chase each other or bat toys around the house to keep themselves busy. Chantilly and Lace would enjoy a calm quiet home with people willing to take the time to help them develope more confidence. The girls will be available for adoption this Sat. at Pet Valu 375 Mountainview Rd south from 2:00-4:00.
