Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2020 | Time: 9:30 a.m. | We're reviewing the Regional Official Plan Get involved and have your say! About the ROPR Halton is reviewing our Regional Official Plan in accordance with Section 26 of the Planning Act to ensure that the Regional Official Plan continues to meet the needs of our community today and in the years ahead. Reviewing the Plan also ensures we are aligned with Provincial policies and sets an updated framework for future land use in the Region. A copy of the current Regional Official Plan can be viewed or downloaded from the Region's website: halton.ca/The-Region/Regional-Planning/Regional-Official-Plan-(ROP)-(1)/Regional-Official-Plan-Viewer. As part of the ROPR process to date, Regional Council endorsed an overall Directions Report in 2016 that identified key areas for the review. Building on this, in July 2020, the Region prepared a series of Discussion Papers and summary documents, available on halton.ca/ropr, that provide information on five theme areas under review, including: • Regional Urban Structure (Integrated GrowthManagement Strategy): Urban system and growth management policies to guide population and job growth. • Rural and Agricultural System: Agricultural policies to support the agricultural system in Halton. • Natural Heritage: Natural heritage system policies to preserve the natural environment and protect source water. • Climate Change: Land-use policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. • North Aldershot Planning Area: Implications of growth management, natural heritage and a rural and agricultural system in North Aldershot. The Regional Official Plan shapes how and where Halton grows--your input is valuable as we make these decisions for our community! The Regional Official Plan Review is currently underway and applies to all lands within Halton Region.
