The Royal Canadian Legion GEORGETOWN POPPY FUND Lest weForget Poppy Campaign 2020 Due to the COVID 19 pandemic the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 120 Poppy Campaign for this year will not have tables at theMall or the Super Store. However Poppy Boxes will be distributed throughout our community in the beer and liquor stores, and all of the local businesses, professional offices and drug stores. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the businesses and the Community for the wonderful support you have given to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign over the years, this has been a great help to our Veterans and our Community. Yours in Comradeship B.Ray Clarke Poppy Chair Br.120 Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance 2020 Georgetown Legion The November Remembrance activities are almost upon us. This is the time when our community comes together to remember the fallen who served and gave us our freedom through their sacrifice. Due to COVID-19, there will be no Remembrance Parades or Services in Georgetown/Glen Williams this year. COVID-19 has gone from bad, to OK, to the worst it has ever been. To ensure the health and safety of the community and Legion members, we need to do the right thing. On the 11th November 2020, a small number of Legion volunteers will lower the Cenotaph flags to half-mast, pre-place Wreaths prior to 11:00am and administer Remembrance music for 11:00am. With COVID-19 on every one's mind, these steps are necessary for this year. We have always encouraged community members to attend and support Remembrance but, unfortunately, this year is different. We are asking community and Legion members not to attend this year's short ceremony. Hopefully, we can all get back to our normal lives in 2021.
