Trafalgar Sports Park will soon be transformed into a temporary North Pole as the Georgetown Lions Club brings San- ta to town. The local group is hosting its first re- verse Santa Claus parade, meaning resi- dents will drive through the floats and en- joy them from the safety of their own vehi- cles. Here's everything you need to know about this year's festivities: 1. The drive-through parade will take place on Nov. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. 2. To assist with traffic flow in the park, spectators are asked to come during the following times based on their family's last name: A to G, between 5 and 6 p.m.; H to M, between 6 and 7 p.m.; N to T, between 7 and 8 p.m.; and U to Z, between 8 and 9 p.m. Cars will enter the park from 17 Sideroad and drive through to the Trafalgar Road exit. 3. The floats will be lined up along the roadway through the park, with Santa greeting all his fans who are safely isolated in their cars. Since the number of people serving as volunteers or on floats is re- stricted to 100, the parade will look a little different this year. Those who attend can also tune in to Santa's own radio station in the park, hosted by Party Cinemas. 4. The Lions will be collecting donations of unwrapped gifts, nonperishable foods or cash that will be donated to the George- town Bread Basket. Gifts from corporate sponsors will be given to each car as they leave the park, while supplies last. 5. The Georgetown Lions Club has orga- nized the annual Santa Claus Parade in Georgetown since the 1930s. For more in- formation visit www.georgetownlion- sclub.com or the group's Facebook page.
