The Town of Halton Hills has received multiple accolades for its leadership role in energy consump- tion and mitigating climate change. The Town was recog- nized during the 2020 May- ors' Megawatt Challenge Forum -- including an in- duction into the "10 Per Cent Club" -- for lowering energy use by 10 per cent since 2018 at the District 1 fire station. It also received three leadership awards for high performance in buildings that have met or surpassed their total energy targets (Halton Hills Town Hall, the Acton Arena and Com- munity Centre, and the Ce- darvale Community Cen- tre). The awards highlight the Town's ongoing efforts to reduce operational ener- gy consumption and green- house gas emissions, and align with goals and cli- mate change targets out- lined in the Corporate En- ergy Management plan. "Fostering a healthy community and a superior quality of life in Halton Hills includes providing a clean environment," said Mayor Rick Bonnette. " The Mayors' Megawatt Challenge awards recog- nize our leadership by ex- ample and illustrate the positive progress we're making with our climate change initiatives."
