If you are planning a visit (for routine eye examinations, eyewear purchase and repair, contact lens pick up etc), please contact us in advance and we will arrange an appointment time for you. This will prevent overcrowding and keep everyone safe! In this edition we thought you would enjoy finding out a little about two more active members of Hillsview Active Living Centre, Acton. Helen Croghan moved to Acton in 2008 and shortly af- ter became a member of Hillsview, Acton. Helen started making lunches when the centre was located in the boath- ouse during the expansion of the centre in 2014 In "normal times," if you visited the centre on a Fri- day morning, you would have enjoyed the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen. Twice a month, Helen and her crew serve a delicious soup, a variety of sandwiches, dessert and tea or coffee -- and on alternate weeks, a three-course lunch consisting of salad, a hot meal and dessert. Helen does all the shop- ping and is very frugal, looking for bargains. She also helps prepare the meals for the Mother's Day Lunch, the Christmas Fair and the wonderful Christmas turkey dinner. She is also on the fundrais- ing committee. The second person we are profiling this month is Linda Gordon. Linda and Dave moved to Acton in 2013 and joined Hillsview that same year. Linda was elected to the Hillsview board in 2016 as secretary and currently holds the position of trea- surer. Not only does she take great care to make sure all the books balance and give a financial report at each board meeting, she al- so volunteers at the recep- tion desk on a regular basis and is on the fundraising committee. She enjoys line dancing and hiking and spends weekends at various art shows, helping sell and dis- play her very talented hus- band's paintings. As you can see from these two members, they contribute much to the suc- cess of the centre. Members are still receiv- ing robot calls or emails about the various programs as we restart with instruc- tions on how to register. Your board, committee members and program con- veyors would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year. The pool celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006, but was closed soon after due to structural issues. A condo development is currently under construction there.
