Trolleybus Urban Development received a $12,500 Community Improvement Plan grant from the town to support environ- mental work required to redevelop proper- ty from 11571 to 11605 Trafalgar Rd. The land will be redeveloped for future residential use. A report from February 2019 proposed the land would be used for the construction of up to 134 residential townhouse units. "It is my pleasure to provide Trolleybus Urban Development Inc. a grant to help fund the environmental work required to redevelop their property," Mayor Rick Bon- nette said. "Cleaning up and transforming brownfield sites provides environmental, social, and economic benefits and I am de- lighted we could support this effort." The town's Community Improvement Plan encourages private sector investment and revitalization throughout the commu- nity by providing financial incentives to eli- gible projects, including Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) grants. Earlier in 2020, Trolleybus submitted an ESA application to help fund the cost of a Phase II ESA at the property. A formal plan- ning process is underway for the proposed development. "We look forward to building a new com- munity on these lands and appreciate the town's contribution through the Communi- ty Improvement Plan to help move this pro- ject forward," Greg Gilbert, director of planning and design at Trolleybus Urban Development Inc., said. The town's grant program funds 50 per cent of the total cost of an eligible environ- mental study, up to a total of $12,500. Applications for the grant are accepted year-round, and are subject to eligibility and available funding. More information is available at the town's economic develop- ment office at 905-873-2601 ext. 2127, or at in- vesthaltonhills.com.
