Thank you for being our Hero. Halton is back in lockdown. Announced by Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Monday, Dec. 21, the province- wide shutdown brought about more strin- gent public health restrictions to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. Ford said that lockdown measures will be in place for 28 days in southern Ontario, though officials will continue to monitor the data and make an adjustment if neces- sary. Here's what Halton leaders had to say about the lockdown. Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette "Moving into shutdown on Boxing Day is not a step any of us wanted to happen. "But now, more than ever, it is critical that we all continue to work together to help stop the spread of the virus by staying home. I want to thank our businesses and residents who continue to follow public health advice in our efforts to keep our Town safe." Milton Mayor Gord Krantz "(The Town) supports these efforts of our public health officials. We must work collectively and abide by these guidelines through the holidays. "We encourage residents to continue to support businesses as they can safely do so through this shutdown such as online or- ders, curbside pickup or delivery. Addi- tionally, small businesses impacted by this shutdown may be eligible for the recently announced small business support grant from the Province and encourage busi- nesses to stay tuned for those details in January."
