Now, some of Georgetown's cutest feathered friends will have a safer expedi- tion to private ponds on Maple Avenue as the town has installed duck crossing signs. JUST THE FACTS • According to town staff, the munici- pality was contacted by a resident con- cerned about the safety of ducks crossing the busy road as they travel to and from the private ponds located at the golf club at North Halton and on the north side of Ma- ple Avenue. • Local resident Jodie McGucken said the G&G women's golfing group reached out to the town about the issue af- ter a second duck died crossing the road. • The town then installed two duck crossing signs on Maple Avenue, east of Halton Hills Drive and west of Gardiner Drive West, in early January. • "We just want to make sure the pub- lic is aware to slow down in this section so we don't lose anymore (ducks)," said McGucken. • The ducks are said to make their pil- grimage across the road twice a day.
