The 56-year-old Georgetown man had been sitting on some big news, but didn't want to wake her up. So, he stood there holding a ticket that read "Big Winner" and waited for her. Abercrombie had matched the final six of the seven Encore numbers on his Nov. 9, 2020 Daily Grand ticket, earning him a $100,000 prize. "You play the lottery for fun and it's only a dream for most people to actually win," he said. Abercrombie is an early bird, so when he woke up at 5 a.m., he checked his tickets. He was pretty sure he had a winner, but the store didn't open until 6 a.m. so he had to wait. When it opened, he was leaving nothing to chance. "First, I used the ticket checker," he said. "Then I gave it to the cashier. I was very surprised." Abercrombie says he has no immediate plans for the winnings. "I'm going to put this in the bank and help my kids out," he said.
