Hoodworking Blue Jays past the Kinsmen Club Expos in Georgetown Baseball Association pee wee action last week. For the Expos, Thomas Arnold caught a fly ball in centre and Sam Southworth had a triple to earn player of the game honors. In another game, the George and Dragon Angels nipped the T.D. _ Bank Padres 10-7 while the Jim and Pat. Akers Countrywide Phillies J -H. Woodworking Blue Jays 11-8. Unfortunately, results of the Angels-Padres game weren’t avail- able, The Jays couldn’t maintain their winning ways against the undefeat- ed Philliers, despite three RBIs from Clayton Prycyk and fine defensive play from Anthony Giordano. Promising recruit Tedd Simmons, also played well. Jays hitters were pinned to the group by Dan Hardstaff, who made a nice catch in shallow centre. Eugene Botchey also had an inning- ending catch in centre and Jason Estevan caught a runner trying to steal second with a nice throw. Hardstaff drove in five runs, three coming on a bases-loaded triple, to earn player of the game honors. Matt Alexa added a double. The T.D. Bank Padres-Kinsmen Club Expos and MVP Sports Pirates ‘ge and Dragon Angels games were rained out. The Andrew Murray Motors green team played the red Elks Lodge team in an evenly-matched contest. The Motors ran smoothly with 2 goals until the Elks charged in the last quarter looking for rebounds leaving a final score of 2- 1 for the motor pool. Leah Crane was the goal scorer for the Andrew Murray Motors. Leanne Webb, playing in goal for the first time in her soccer career, was noteworthy for the green team as was Katie Duke, who played strongly in defense and Jessica MacDonald who displayed some good up-the- field running. Elks Lodge players Tara Rafferty and Ellen Smith both kicked a ball in the goal simultane- ously which makes an assist for each. Noteworthy for the Red Elks were Brianne Evers-Jordan who played well in defense along with Katie Elliott and Ellen Smith. Marissa Fread was blowing the ref- eree’s whistle for this game. Playing under the eerie half-light sky that happens just before a thun- derstorm, the Aqua team Armstrong Insurance had reason for their spe- cial cheer as they raced to get 5 goals before the rain. They faced the Municipal Trust Blue Bombers who were kept busy since summer vacations are starting to deplete their players. The Municipal Trust players wondered if there was a force field around the aqua net as they tried to score. Noteworthy players for the Blue Bombers were Lisa Butler who made some good saves in goal, Louise Jarvie who played forward and Jennifer Varey who played defense. Goal scorers for the Armstrong Insurance team were Janine Taylor and Chrissy Periera with two each and Jodie Armstrong. with her second goal of the season. Other noteworthy play- ers for the aqua Armstrong Insurance team were Teri Reynolds and Rachael McBride along with the goal scorers.
