The date of the booking is now August 17. It was not possible to get seats for August ment calendar and as Georgetown seniors have responded so well to this offer of a bus so kindly donat- ed by the Royal Bank it would probably be worthwhile next year to run two buses and charge a little extra on top of the ticket price to pay for the buses. Specifically work is continuing on possible temporary locations for a senior Seniors for the Future Response for concert excellent centre and nothing is standing in the way except money — this is the problem and we will talk some more about the future. In the meantime, we are also continuing to raise funds and step- ping up to another level of fundraising wit a raffle, which you’ ll be hearing more about soon. This is a joint effort of both Acton and Georgetown seniors with two big prizes, an inclusive trip to Hawaii and a trip to Las Vegas (for two). Look for more details and tickets soon. IES OHS E EEE ok i k The Association enjoyed a good attendance at its Annual General Meeting on May 29, 107 members were present. Perhaps this resulted from holding the meeting in the afternoon. Participation in discus- sion around a potential site for a seniors centre was good. It is too bad, as reported two weeks ago, that the possibility fell through, but, I wish to comment a little more on that now. While we are willing to compromise on size and location for a seniors’ centre, the Town and the Association must know the level of quality of any proposed cone. facility. We did not know this of the Main St., property, or ihe cost of getting a satisfactory quality level. And, assuming we could have had this property — which is doubtful any- way — it would have been perma- nent — for 25 or 30 years — so it is critical that everyone knows just what we’d be getting and what it would cost.
