At about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a security guard at a Georgetown Market Place store, noticed a man in the sporting goods department remove a plastic shopping bag from. his pocket. The man then moved to the elec- tronics section of the store where he took a VCR from a shelf and placed it in the bag. The man then left the store through the mall exit, ran through the mall and exited on the north and left the scene” travelling west- bound through the mall parking lot. The man is described as a male, white in his mid-20s. He had a slim build and long black hair. The sus- pect was wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweat top. Police are continuing their inves- tigation. Man assaulted A Georgetown man was assault- ed by a passing motorist as he walked along Guelph Street early Wednesday morning. According to police at 11 Division, the man and a friend were walking along in the area of Guelph Street and Queen Street when a pickup truck drove by the pair. The vehicle containing three male occupants continued for a short distance and then turned around. The vehicle stopped a short distance from the walkers and the driver and one of the passengers exited the vehicle. “Words were exchanged between the driver and the victim and then the driver struck the victim on the head causing him to fall to the ground,” a police report said. The suspect and passenger then got back in the pickup and drove away. The victim suffered a cut to the head and was knocked uncon- scious for a short time, police added. The investigation continues. $20,000 boat recovered A 23-year-old Georgetown man has been charged with possession of stolen property over $1,000 after police executed a search warrant at an Eighth Line residence and found a $20,000 pleasure boat. The discovery was made last Tuesday after police received ia tip about the Sunray Continental boat. The boat was stolen from the Fenlon Falls area last year, a police report said. Also recovered was a marine radio and an AM/FM Cassette stereo from the boat.
