According to Matthew Galliford, Coordinator of the Downtown Acton BIA, they had three identical guesses of 223 that were four off from the actual number of candies. A total of 227 candies were inside the briefcase. The winners, in a three-way tie were Shelley Schipper, Devon Adshead, and Rena Arbic. The candy was packed within a briefcase that was on display, for a couple weeks prior to Valentine’s Day, in the window of Concept Leather on Mill Street East. e A suspect was arrested in connection to an attempted armed robbery in Downtown Acton. According to a report from Halton Regional Police, North Halton District, on January 16th at approximately 10:50 AM, a male suspect entered the Acton Discount Variety on Mill Street. The male demanded cash and inted a handgun at an employee in the store. The suspect fled without obtaining any money. No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the robbery. Arrested on February 6th, was 37-year-old Christopher Dayfoot of Georgetown. Dayfoot has been charged with robbery and disguise with intent. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and the handgun used in the robbery was not recovered. e Acton Veterinary Clinic was the victim of an attempted robbery that took place at approximately 11:30 AM on February 10th. According to Halton Regional Police, two men and one woman tried to distract the staff and steal a charity box from the counter of the clinic on Mill Street. The initial attempt was unsuccessful but one suspect is said to have stolen crayons from a table in the clinic. The suspects are described as a white male with a slim build, a white male with a medium build and a white female in her 40s.
