PAGE 8 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME I, ISSUE 6 April 22nd, 2023 marks 53 years since the first Earth Day and to recognize this important day, the Town of Halton Hills is encouraging residents to take part inthe Annual Earth Week, happening from Friday, April 21st to Friday, April 28th. To kick off Earth Week, on Friday, April 21st, schools and businesses are asked to go outside and clean up around their property for 22 minutes as part of the 22-Minute Makeover. Then, on Saturday, April 22nd, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Acton Arena & Community Centre is the Race to Net Zero event. Hosted by the Town of Halton Hills and Your Green Homes, this free one-day event raises awareness of real climate solutions, provides opportunities for residents to get involved and showcases local businesses. Some of the things to check out while at the Race to Net Zero, include: -Free Electric vehicle (EV) test drives by Plug ‘n’ Drive -Electric vehicles on display by owners and busi- nesses -Used Bike Swap -Various presentations and booths educating on the topics of energy efficiency and sustainable landscaping. Annual Earth Week events taking place across Halton Hills Other events taking place throughout Halton Hills during Earth Week include a community clean up, tree planting, and a presentation on supporting birds.
